Satyagraha Conference resolution in New Delhi in January 2007 initiated by Smt Sonia Gandhi and Archbishop Desmond Tutu called upon the UN to adopt the idea. The UN General Assembly voted on June 15, 2007 to establish 2 October as the International Day of non-violence.
